Have questions about membership? You’re not alone—here are the ones we hear most often. If yours isn’t here, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.

We welcome thoughtful dialogue and respectful engagement across a range of perspectives. That said, members of the Reasons to Believe Scholar Community are asked to review and affirm our core distinctives listed in the application. These distinctives guide our mission, research, and public engagement. This shared foundation helps ensure unity of purpose, clarity in collaboration, and trust with the audiences we serve. While questions and discussion are encouraged, alignment with these core distinctives is essential for participation in the Scholar Community.

Members contribute to RTB’s mission through three core values: research, collaboration, and gospel advancement. This can look like actively participating in community training to expand your skillset, becoming a science-faith resource to your local church, joining dual-revelation-driven projects with other members, and grassroots evangelism in your spheres of influence. Scholars may also have opportunities to partner with RTB through videos, podcasts, speaking events, and writing contributions or peer review.

Because our work spans many disciplines, each member brings unique expertise, perspective, and experience that helps strengthen and round out our scientific and apologetics efforts. Your background may be exactly what’s needed to help others better understand and advance the case for the God of the Bible.

Absolutely! RTB’s mission sits at the intersection of science and theology, and rigorous biblical scholarship is essential to what we do. If you hold a PhD or equivalent in theology, biblical studies, philosophy, or a related field, you’re eligible for scholar membership. We believe science and Scripture are complementary—and we need voices from both sides of that conversation.

Of course! Many of our members are scientists first who are passionate about their faith but don’t hold formal theological degrees. RTB provides the theological grounding and interdisciplinary apologetics training—you bring your scientific credibility. Together, it’s a powerful combination for advancing the science-faith conversation.

One of the primary goals of the Scholar Community is to equip you to open people to the gospel by revealing God through your field of expertise or passion. Whether through academic lectures, courses at Reasons Institute, direct mentorship from RTB’s staff scholars, or peer-to-peer engagement within the community, you’ll be equipped to engage colleagues, students, and skeptics with evidence, clarity, and confidence. Our vision is for every member to be a more effective ambassador for Christ wherever God has placed them.

Membership in the Scholar Community is designed to be flexible. You engage at the level that works for your schedule. That said, the more you participate in workshops, networking events, and content opportunities, the more value you’ll get out of the community.

No, joining the Scholar Community is completely free, with no recurring dues or membership fees. Our goal is to equip and connect scholars, not create financial barriers to participation. We do ask that members submit a brief annual Ministry Report to retain active membership. This helps us stay connected to how God is working through our community and ensures we’re serving you well.

Yes! The Scholar Community is global. We have members from institutions and organizations around the world. Most of our programming and networking opportunities are accessible online, making geography a nonissue for the vast majority of what we offer.
